The world largest Toy Fair cancelled.
After the announcement of the cancellation of the Toy Fair New York, today the cancellation of the Nuremberg Toy Fair has been confirmed. Scheduled for the first week of February, the organizers have confirmed that the current situation and according to the measures of the German government, they have decided to cancel the 72 edition of the fair for the second consecutive year.
According to Christian Ulrich, spokesperson for Spielewarenmesse: “In the last few days, conditions have been deteriorating and, due to the rapid growth of the Omicron variant, the situation with the pandemic is now markedly different. In response to this a large number of Spielwarenmesse exhibitors, out of concern for the health of their teams, cancelled their stands. The Spielwarenmesse thus no longer looked capable of providing its customary broad overview of the international toy market. A further complication was that it was no longer possible to plan ahead with any certainty because it was possible at any time that the event could be cancelled by the authorities”
Regarding the slot sector, before the official cancellation, only Carrera and NSR maintained their presence in the event, after SCX decided the day before yesterday that they were absent.
