Carrera started the collection
It is probably one of the most popular collections among motor fans and, by extension, slot world fans. The Jägermeister sponsorship, the iconic orange cars, is an unavoidable magnet for collectors and manufacturers have been aware of this and continue to be so, when it has been more than forty years since the first 1:32 scale slot car started showing those colors.
You have to go through the pages of the 1975/76 Carrera Universal Catalog to find a BMW 3.0 CSL sponsored by Jägermeister. It was the first time since 1963 that Carrera had so explicitly shown a car sponsorship.
Two years earlier Carrera had put his logo on some model. But this year 1975 introduced the Jägermeister logo on the BMW 3.0 CSL #3 (40477) and the Radlefsen logo on the Porsche 917/10 (40476).
This first slot model with Jägermeister colors, reproduces the BMW 3.0 CSL of Toine Hezemans and Brian Muir with which they entered the 1973 European Touring Car Championship. Throughout its marketing years, 1975 to 1983, the car had different race numbers.
