J.Murphy, French GP 192 Winner
In 1921 the Duesenberg marque would make history when Jimmy Murphy headed a team to the French Grand Prix. Dismissed by the European teams, the Duesenbergs came in 1st, 4th and 6th. Jimmy Murphy, rebounding from injuries suffered during a crash in practice - discharging himself form hospital, ribs in plaster - beat the best that Europe had to offer and became the only American driver in a car built in the United States to win the French Grand Prix much to the bewilderment of the booing French crowd!

Jimmy Murphy would later purchase the car and have it re-engined with a Miller. The new car, named Murphy Special, came second in 1921 at Indianapolis 500 driven by Roscoe Sarles.
These two models are reproduced by Shadowfax Slot Cars at 1:32 scale in the form of a mounting kit, although on request they can be purchased mounted RTR.
